Trump’s Cages PSA

"Who built the cages? Who built the cages??" This pundit slogan has furthered a misinformation campaign about the Trump Administration's "zero-tolerance" family separation policy, falsely equating migrant detention and family separation. I find both morally repugnant, but one is uniquely Trump's.

This video was self-produced just after the last presidential debate leading up to the 2020 elections. The intent was to remind parents, and all voters, what sort of policies they would be co-signing with a vote for Trump. The video was published on social media. It was shared by celebrities like Amy Schumer and Jesse Williams, garnering over a million views just before Americans stepped into voting booths.

Online Fundraising Video for Immigrant Families Together, featuring Legendary Cyphers

In the summer of 2019, With & About projects forged a partnership with Legendary Cyphers and Immigrant Families Together to raise funds to support migrant families separated at the border.

Immigrant Families Together is a volunteer-run grassroots movement to reunite families separated and detained by ICE/ CBP. IFT helps parents currently detained through the following immediate actions: Raising of bond funds in order to post bond for parents separated from their children at the US/ Mexico Border; providing pro bono legal representation when possible; Arranging safe transportation from state of detention to the city where children are currently in foster care; when needed, providing food, housing and medical assistance to IFT families; Working with local organizations and government to expedite the process of achieving full custody of their children while they await trial.

Legendary Cyphers commemorated their 6th anniversary by hosting a cypher with proceeds benefitting IFT. This event was amplified online by actors Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn 99) and Mike Houston (Orange Is The New Black). It was both live-streamed and filmed. Additionally, donations were incentivized with personal freestyle raps crafted by the LC MC's, filmed verses delivered to higher-dollar donors, and Instagram shoutouts by Melissa Fumero for donations over $1k.

Family Portrait Fundraiser for Immigrant Families Together

In the summer of 2018 With & About projects hosted a family portrait fundraiser in support of Immigrant Families Together. The fundraiser was entirely volunteer-run and made possible with the donation of studio space by space28.com. Beyond family portraits, participants were given the opportunity to create personal gifs advocating for immigration reform. While participants waited for their portraits, they were provided blank post cards and addresses for the government personnel who were key architects in the inhumane "zero-tolerance" family separation policy, so they could voice their outrage while they waited in line.
